Your personal university account gives you access to central online services such as university e-mail, WLAN, VPN and learning environments. This basis enables you to communicate securely, exchange files and access important information about your studies at any time.

Stay online across the entire campus: With the WLAN eduroam, you can surf securely and free of charge at Paderborn University - and at many other universities worldwide. It only takes a few steps to set it up and then you're connected everywhere.

With a VPN connection, you can also securely access internal university services such as network drives, library resources or protected websites when you are off campus. Ideal if you are working from home or travelling.

Always stay reachable: With your Uni-Mail, you automatically receive a personal Paderborn University email account. You will receive important information about your studies, communicate securely with lecturers and fellow students and can conveniently check your emails via webmail or mail app.

Whether individual learning organisation, group work or digital projects - the ZIM supports your studies with modern platforms, tools and applications. Here you will find the most important systems for teaching, collaboration and research - everything you need for your everyday digital studies.

In PAUL you select courses and manage your academic achievements, PANDA allows you to learn online, KoMo supports group work, and the video portal offers lecture recordings and learning videos.

Col­lab­or­a­tion & data ex­change

For collaborative work on projects or documents:
With sciebo, the university's internal cloud service, you can share and synchronise files securely. Microsoft 365 complements this with Office applications, Teams and real-time collaboration.

Spe­cial­ised soft­ware for study & re­search

Many degree programmes use specialised tools for analysis, programming or research. The ZIM gives you access to scientific software - from LimeSurvey for surveys to Jupyter notebooks, MATLAB or SPSS for data analysis.

Hard­ware & me­dia tech­no­logy

Whether it's a presentation, video project or creative media work - the ZIM provides you with the right technology and working environment. From rental equipment and media workstations to professionally equipped sound and AV studios, you will find everything you need for practical work with hardware and media technology at Paderborn University.

Me­dia and hard­ware lend­ing

Do you need technology for a presentation, video or research project? The ZIM:Medien offers a comprehensive range of equipment on loan - from notebooks, cameras, microphones and lighting equipment to tripods and recorders. Students can borrow the equipment free of charge.

PC work­sta­tions & edit­ing suites

Modern computers with the latest software for image, sound and video editing are at your disposal. Editing suites offer you a quiet working environment and professional equipment for digital projects - whether film, podcast or graphics.

Sound & AV stu­di­os

You can use ZIM's professionally equipped sound and AV studios for high-quality audio or video productions. The studios are suitable for voice recordings, educational videos and streaming formats. The ZIM:Medien team will support you with planning, recording and post-production.

We teach di­git­al and me­dia skills

Courses with­in the frame­work of de­gree pro­grammes

ZIM: Media supports students with practical media skills: through training, project support and teaching in degree programmes. Technical, aesthetic and content-related skills are taught in interdisciplinary seminars - as a practical interface between studying and working.

Student projects

GamesLab

The GamesLab is an interdisciplinary space for video game development and game culture. Equipped with powerful PCs, VR glasses, graphics tablets and more, it offers seminars - such as the two-semester advanced seminar on game development and game studies - for students of media studies, computer science, art and music.

doIT - our IT train­ing courses

The doIT team organises practical classroom and online courses on Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Adobe Photoshop and the basics of artificial intelligence with a focus on programming and applications.
